When we began preparing the theme "Moga" a year ago, we incorporated our frequent collaboration with U-Theatre into the work. Three years ago, we collaborated on "Dancing with You," "Tibetan Sounds on the Sky Road," and now on "Circumambulating the Mountain." Following the footsteps of U-Theatre founder Liu Ruoyu, we gradually opened our eyes to theatricality. These years of collaboration have also allowed us to understand the immense possibilities of performing arts.
Because the U-Ren drums need to be mobile, a traditional catwalk isn't appropriate. Instead, we retained the blue box's black floor, extending the sense of space from the ground to the walls. The seating on the stage is arranged at an angle, creating a sense of perspective. The blue box and the upper stage of the Grand Theater are used to create transitions between performance areas. The vertical rows of lights on the left and right create a "door"-like light effect, symbolizing the emergence of women's intellectual power and the beginning of a new era.
We tend to assume beauty is innate, as if those who shine brightly have their own natural radiance, effortlessly capturing everyone's attention. However, if you observe carefully, you'll discover that the brightest stars are always preparing and accumulating energy before the spotlight falls.
We gathered at 10 a.m., eyes puffy, faces swollen, and feet heavy from the director's frantic voice after last night's rehearsal. We headed to the dressing room to get ready. Even though we were exhausted, we needed to stay focused! We greeted each other, filed into the studio, found a seat, and waited for the makeup artist's call. When the hair dryer started up with a whoosh, the day's workday began.
